What stays in your browser

Everything PostInk keeps is stored in your browser's extension storage on your own computer. We cannot see it, and it is never sent to us. That includes:

  • Your settings, templates and AI provider keys.
  • Drafts, your posting queue and the history of what was posted.
  • Usage and cost records for the AI calls you make.
  • Your learned voice: posts and replies you wrote yourself on X, which PostInk reads as X shows them so drafts sound like you. You can see, forget or clear these in Voice settings, or switch learning off.

Text in images of posts you reply to is read on your device. The images are not uploaded anywhere.

What goes to the AI provider you choose

To write a draft, PostInk sends a request directly from your browser to the AI provider you picked (for example OpenRouter, OpenAI, Anthropic or Google), using your own key. The request contains what the draft needs: the post or thread you are answering, your instructions, and, if voice learning is on, a short description of your style and a few of your own posts.

That provider handles the request under its own privacy policy and terms. With a local model (Ollama or Chrome's built-in AI), nothing leaves your computer. Local-only mode blocks every cloud provider.

If you turn on live search, your provider (OpenRouter) also runs a web search for the draft.

X

PostInk works inside your own logged-in X session. Drafts are placed in X's editor, and scheduled posts are published from your browser, as if you pressed Post yourself. PostInk does not use X's API and never sees your X password.

Payments and licences

Purchases are handled by Lemon Squeezy, our reseller and merchant of record. Lemon Squeezy collects your payment and billing details under its own privacy policy; we never see your card. We receive the order details needed to support you: your name, email address, country and order number.

To activate a licence, the extension sends your licence key to Lemon Squeezy to confirm it is valid.

This website

This site has no analytics, no tracking cookies and no advertising. It remembers your light or dark theme choice in your browser's local storage. It is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, which processes standard request data such as IP addresses to serve and protect the site.

Your choices

You can delete everything PostInk stores by removing the extension, or clear parts of it from its settings. For questions about order data, or to ask us to delete it, email us. Data held by Lemon Squeezy or your AI provider can also be managed with them directly.

PostInk is not directed at children under 13.
